I’ve heard there are restaurants in SF where you can order chicken for dinner. Specifically, you can order that chicken, that one right there. Then they take it out back and you have fresh chicken for dinner.

I’d love to try that. Alas, every time I’m in the city it’s either for work (and my evenings are totally booked), or I’m with those of the squeamish stomach.

Thanks for your comments. I rarely use “whom” in casual speech or writing, because it feels stilted and pretentious. English (here too) is definitely changing in such a way that “whom” is less and less mandatory.

In Britain, where we live, it’s almost never used. The meaning is clear with “who,” no question, but it’s still a shame.
