I LOVE the rain and everyone I know me thinks I am complete freak. Infact, the worse the weather , the happier I am, ideally it would be thundering & lightening too! I just find it so exciting, bright sunny weather to me is just dull and i am not good in really hot temps as I sweat a lot!. I do like to sunbathe I must admit; but the rain makes me truely happy

Hi there, I came across your blog because I did a google search looking for people like me who dislike bright sunny, weather and who love rainy, overcast more temperate weather. So I 100% agree with you. In fact, if I think about it, I get a little disappointed when it's a bright sunny day, with blue sky. I also like to avoid going out at mid-day on a clear day, as the light is harshest and all colors are kind of washed out, loosing saturation. I think I will like living in Paris or London (and San Francisco) for this reason! I am going to visit Paris for the first time in April. I'm taking 2 weeks off and I intend to spend some time in London too. I have British citizenship due to my mother, but I am a Canadian living in Montreal. I am going to continue to search the web and see if there is some associated psychological trait that has been identified with people who prefer overcast weather.

I also prefer overcast weather, not only because the sun is somewhat bothersome to me, but more importantly because full sun bleaches the colors out of everything so that you cannot really appreciate the beauty around you. This must be one reason I love living in Seattle.

For me it's not the liking of rain or coldness, it's the disliking of heat. I'm not sure whether it was your news but a couple of months ago we had lots and lots and lots of rain, leaving the whole of England underwater. That was interesting, but I wouldn't want it again because the news was boring. Every reporter was standing knee deep in water looking very sad telling you lots of big figures, usually money. However, it was kind of fun; as long as I wasn't underwater, taking water out of your back garden in wheelbarrows made an interesting time.
Anyway, I find that you can keep putting layers on for cold, but you can't keep taking layers off without getting arrested (no, I have never tried). I like the sound of rain too, especially when I'm asleep. If it's hot at night then there is no way I will sleep. When it comes to snow I can't say much because we get less and less each year so you have to keep making the most of every day you do get it (twice last year).
So I guess a nice day for me is just simply: Not hot.
